About

Sarah Mitchell started walking the yogic path in 2006 by taking one early morning class each Sunday.  She was in law school at the time and felt amazed by how much her body and mind improved with just this one class.  Sarah had been very athletic in her childhood and teenage years: She was a nationally ranked gymnast by age thirteen and swam for two teams throughout high school.  With the advent of yoga in her life, Sarah remembered just how much she enjoyed being in her body.  And the rest, as they say, is history!!

Sarah experimented with the practice of many different types of yoga - Hatha, Vinyasa, Bikram, Anusara, Power Yoga and Ashtanga, to name a few - and studied with a variety of teachers; she enjoyed postures like handstands and backbends, so she often connected with teachers who taught more vigorous classes.  In 2013, Sarah completed her first teacher training, which was a 200-hour certification program sanctioned by Yoga Alliance, at Triad Yoga & Pilates in Newport Beach.  Upon graduation, Sarah was invited to teach a weekly Ashtanga class at Triad and, several months later, SunSpark Yoga in Orange also invited her to teach a weekly Ashtanga class.

During the aforementioned 200-hour training, Sarah was introduced to an Ashtanga teacher - Itay Dollinger, owner of

Laguna Yoga Shala, and she felt with striking clarity that this discipline was for her.  Sarah has devoted both her personal practice and her teaching to Ashtanga since that time.  Sarah studied under Itay for a couple years, during which time she assisted during his classes, took a teacher training with him and also taught some of her own classes at his school.  In Fall 2015, Sarah began studying with Diana Christianson, owner of Pacific Ashtanga in Capistrano Beach.  Sarah studied under Diana until Summer 2018 and, during that time, she completed a teacher training program and an internship with Diana.  She also taught classes and workshops at Diana's school until the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.  In 2017, Sarah completed a 100-hour teacher training with Tim Miller, a prominent Ashtanga teacher and owner of Ashtanga Yoga Center in Encinitas.

When the pandemic began, Sarah was still teaching her regular class for SunSpark, and she continued to teach this class online via Facebook Live until August 2020.  Sarah relocated from Orange County to the eastern edge of Los Angeles County - specifically, the city of Claremont - shortly thereafter.  She has since offered individual and group private lessons.

Sarah enjoys a challenging Ashtanga practice for her own mat time, but she absolutely loves teaching students of all ages, athletic proclivities and walks of life.  If she sounds like the right fit for you, send her an email or a message on Facebook! In love and light... 🙏🏼
